Imagine that, I mention a Terminal Server install I’m working on and shortly thereafter, the Terminal Services Team  lets us know of some changes to RDP bandwidth performance introduced in Vista/Longhorn.

This will be a much needed change, going from FIFO (First In, First Out) to allocating 70% of the Bandwidth to Video by default. Anyone that’s RDP’d into a busy server knows how painfully sluggish the mouse movement can be, so this will be a change I’m looking forward to very much.

Eric Holk also clarified that these changes will not affect Server 2003 and the included registry settings will need to be added if you want to tweak bandwidth settings to suit your needs in Vista/Longhorn. Now, I just need to wait for the Longhorn beta to open up to get my grubby little hands on this welcome change.
